Wookey Hole WI September meeting repot
Jill welcomed everyone back after the summer break . Best
wishes were sent to Suzanne who is in hospital and to Pauline J who had
celebrated her
90th birthday. During the holiday several of us enjoyed a trip
to the Lavender Farm which included a cream tea with Lavender flavoured
scones.
Anne arranged a coffee gathering at Pickwicks which is always
well supported.
Margaret has been busy knitting and has now completed a fifth
blanket for dementia patients.
It was now back to business. Rehearsal dates have been arranged
for the W.I. Christmas Carol Service in Wells Cathedral .
Several ladies took home shoe boxes to prepare Christmas gifts
for YMCA residents.
Our speaker was Rachael Harding. Her talk entitled ' Rhinestones
and Sequins' transported us to the world of competative dancing.
In 1980 she and her husband commenced dancing classes. The next
fourteen years saw them rise to the top in Ballroom and Latin dancing.
Her journey along the way was fascinating and before they
retired they had won 1,6 83 cups and trophies.
She made her own amazing dresses and brought a beautiful example
along for us to see.
Pat thanked her for a most enjoyable talk. Rachael judged our
competition for a memento of a memorable evening.
